CBI raids 16 locations in Yadav Singh DA case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday registered two cases against former Noida chief engineer Yadav Singh, his family members and associates in the disproportionate assets (DA) case and carried out raids at 16 locations across Uttar Pradesh. The raids continued till late Tuesday evening.
Investigating allegations of amassing of assets worth crores of rupees as well as corruption related to irregular award of contracts, the probe agency also carried out searches at the offices and residences of Singh’s family members, relatives, known associates and friends that include people from the ‘builder fraternity’.
The development comes after Allahabad high court last month ordered that the CBI should probe corruption charges against Singh following a PIL by RTI activist Nutan Thakur.
According to the agency around 15 teams of CBI officials on Tuesday carried out searches at several locations, including residence of his daughter whose husband is an Indian Administrative Service officer. Singh’s residence, and his old offices were also raided by the agency where incriminating documents have been allegedly recovered by the CBI.
“Searches are being conducted today at 16 locations, including 13 places in Noida, Greater Noida and one each in Agra, Ferozabad and Lucknow,” said CBI spokesperson, Kanchan Prasad. She added that Singh’s previous office of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority was also searched by CBI officers.
