Boxer and former Congress member Vijender Singh has joined the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Vijender Singh contested as a Congress candidate from the South Delhi constituency but was unsuccessful.
On Wednesday, boxer Vijender Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His single tweet on Twitter, formerly known as X, sparked numerous speculations before the parliamentary polls.
Following his decision to join the BJP, boxer Vijender Singh stated, “Today, I have joined the BJP with a commitment to contribute to the nation’s development and serve its people…”
In recent days, there had been speculation about his candidacy as the BJP’s representative from Mathura, where actress and current MP Hema Malini is seeking re-election. Previously, he posted on X, saying, “I am prepared to go wherever the public desires.” Singh hails from the Jat community, which holds political sway in numerous constituencies across Haryana, his home state, as well as western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
