Cell to track charges against e-commerce firms
Commerce & Industry Ministry said a grievance redressal mechanism is being established to look into complaints against e-commerce players, including allegations that they are flouting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) norms.
Earlier this month, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), the apex body of traders in the country, had filed such a complaint with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) — which is a part of the commerce & industry ministry. Commerce & Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said after receiving such complaints, her ministry had convened a meeting to discuss the issue. The grievance redressal mechanism will be similar to the ‘Twitter seva’ of her ministry, Ms. Sitharaman said.
