‘Piku’, ‘Pink’ repayment to Mr. Bachchan: Shoojit Sircar
Their first collaboration Shoebite never made it to the screen but filmmaker Shoojit Sircar says he considers Piku and upcoming thriller Pink as his “repayment” to megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
Piku, starring Bachchan as a hypochondriac father with Deepika Padukone, was a box office success, while Pink, which also stars Taapsee Pannu is produced by Sircar, will see the 73-year-old actor in the role of a lawyer.
“That shoe is still biting,” Bachchan said when asked about their unreleased film at the trailer launch of Pink.
“One does feel bad if a film doesn’t get released. But we have moved on. We are still trying if something can happen,” Sircar replied.
“But Piku and Pink are my repayment to Mr. Bachchan,” he added.
Besides Bachchan, Shoebite had actors like Dia Mirza, Jimmy Shergill and Sarika.
The film was caught in a legal battle between Percept Picture Company and UTV Motion Pictures.
