Driver of killer truck arrested
The driver of a mini truck, who allegedly mowed down a woman in West Bengal’s Hooghly district on Friday, was arrested on Sunday.
The incident took place near Chinsurah about 65 Km from Kolkata when Jayanti Soren, a worker in a local lozenge factory was returning home and the helper of the vehicle tried to abduct her.
“He [Mr. Baitha] was produced before a local court in Chinsurah which remanded him to five days in police custody,” Superintendent of Police of Hooghly Pravin Tripathi told.
Anomalies in case
However, sources in the district police said that there were “some anomalies” about the presence of another person apart from the driver in the vehicle. “There is a possibility that the driver was the only person in the vehicle. We are probing every aspect of the case,” police sources said.
