Ness Wadia’s driver accuses him of assault, approaches cops
The police on Thursday registered a Non Cognisable complaint against businessman Ness Wadia, after his driver approached them and alleged that the businessman had verbally abused as well as assaulted him on Wednesday.
According to police officials, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when Mr. Wadia was on his way from his residence to south Mumbai. He was being driven by his driver Dhirendra Mishra, who has been employed with him for the last two-and-a-half years, officials said.
“Mr. Mishra, in his complaint, has alleged that he had stopped at a traffic signal at the Buddha Vihar just after the JJ flyover, and Mr. Wadia told him to jump the signal as he was in a hurry. He has further said that when he refused to jump the signal, Mr. Wadia verbally abused as well as slapped him,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar Sharma, Zone I.
‘Asked to jump signal’
Officials at the MRA Marg police station, under whose jurisdiction the alleged incident occurred, said that Mr. Mishra took Mr. Wadia to his destination after the alleged incident, and then took him back home, after which he went to the police station around 1.30 a.m. on Thursday.
The police registered a complaint against Mr. Wadia for assault, intentional insult and criminal intimidation under the IPC.
“We made inquiries with Mr. Mishra and he said that this was the first time in the duration of his employment that such an incident had occurred. Further inquiries into the matter are underway,” said an officer with the MRA Marg police.
