BJP shows PM’s degrees to media, asks Kejriwal to apologize for ‘lies’
NEW DELHI: The BJP on Monday presented proof of PM Narendra Modi’s degrees, to address Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s allegations about the PM’s educational qualifications.
“Kejriwal has repeatedly written letters to the CIC, the PMO etc;, to propagate a lie – that PM Modi’s degrees are fake,” BJP chief Amit Shah said in a press conference in the capital. “I am hereby presenting the PM’s degrees – both his BA and MA degrees,” Shah said while displaying the degrees.
“We are putting both PM’s degrees (Bachelor of Arts from Delhi University & MA from Gujarat University) in the public domain,” the BJP chief said.
“I will write a letter to Kejriwalji so that he is reassured,” Shah said.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who was also present with Shah said public discourse has “stooped so low” in the wake of baseless allegations by Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He added that Kejriwal’s allegations are coming “from a party whose MLAs are prosecuted for disclosing fake degrees.”
Accusing the Congress and the BJP of being part of a mutually beneficial “pact”, Kejriwal had said, “… BJP is cursing Soniaji (Gandhi) but not arresting her. Congress is not questioning the PM’s degree. BJP and Congress are holding dharnas against each other. Is this country foolish? Dono mein badi achchi setting hai (They have a very good pact).”
“It is a matter of grave concern since the Gujarat University says that he (Modi) has done his Master’s from there. If he has not pursued BA, then how could he secure admission in MA? This gives rise to suspicions that the MA degree is forged.” Kejriwal said.
“I urge you to take steps for these documents to be secured. It will be better if these documents are put online. Do the people of this country have the right to know the education qualifications of their PM? If there are serious allegations concerning his degree then the truth should emerge,” the AAP chief had written.
