Death threat to Chhota Rajan on jail official’s phone
An official of the Tihar Jail here has received a threat message warning that inmate Chhota Rajan, the underworld don, will be killed inside.
The message was allegedly sent by Chhota Shakeel, the trusted lieutenant of Rajan’s arch rival Dawood Ibrahim, last November. Recently the Tihar administration took another review of the security around Rajan’s cell.
Tihar Jail Law Officer Sunil Gupta confirmed that he received the SMS threat on his personal mobile phone from an unknown number registered outside the country and Shakeel’s name mentioned at the end as sender.
Mr. Gupta received the SMS on November 24 last year. He brought it to the knowledge of the higher-ups and sought security for himself and his family, sources said.
