Delhi-Faizabad Express derails in UP’s Hapur
NEW DELHI: Eight coaches of Delhi-Faizabad Express derailed in Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday evening.
ADG Railways Anil Saxena said that the derailment occurred between Garhmukteshwar and Kankather stations of the Moradabad Division of Nothern Railways, just after 9 pm.
According to Ram Nayan Yadav, additional SP, Hapur, about 15 passengers received injuries in the accident. The injured were taken in buses to hospitals in Meerut, Ghaziabad and Hapur. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Accident Relief Trains were dispatched to the site from Delhi and Moradabad. Senior Railway officials also rushed to the spot.
Additional beds were made available at PL Sharma district hospital and Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial medical college for any possible emergency.

Traffic on both Up and Down lines on the Delhi-Moradabad section were affected due to the derailment. This resulted in a traffic build-up on NH-24, with many passengers opting to travel by road.
The unaffected coaches of the train left for the destination at around 10:20 pm.
