122 die of heat stroke in State
The official heat wave toll continues to mount with the State now acknowledging that 122 people died of heat stroke this summer.
Three-member mandal committees, comprising a civil surgeon, a police official and a Tehsildar, across mandals in the State have been verifying reports of deaths due to heat wave. After initially reporting all deaths, the government has now resolved to only report and compensate verified deaths.
Mahabubnagar and Medak have reported 30 deaths while 26 people died of heat stroke, according to the State’s disaster response wing.
While Ranga Reddy has recorded 10 deaths, officially no deaths in Hyderabad were attributed to heat stroke.
Ramagundam sizzled at 44.6 degree Celsius.
Hyderabad recorded 42 degree Celsius.
