IMD Rain Alert: While temperatures rise in North India, hilly regions still experience rain and snowfall. Additionally, rain and storms persist in various parts of the country. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected in Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim from March 21 to 26. Furthermore, rain is forecasted in the northern hilly states on March 21 and 22, with a snowfall alert issued as well.
Discussing the weather over the past 24 hours, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh experienced light to moderate rainfall. Rainfall was also observed in Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Additionally, hailstorms occurred in East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
As per the Meteorological Department, rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, etc., from March 21 to 26. Arunachal Pradesh is anticipated to experience heavy rainfall on March 21-23 and 25. Similarly, heavy rainfall alerts have been issued for Sikkim on March 21 and 23, and for Assam and Meghalaya on March 21-23 and 25. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is forecasted for Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha on March 21. In the southern states, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Kerala may experience heavy rainfall on March 21 and 22.
A new Western Disturbance is expected to arrive in North India on the night of March 23, bringing rain to many hilly states. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience rain from March 21 to 24. Uttarakhand may witness rain and snowfall between March 21 and 24. Punjab may see light rain on March 21, 22, and 24, while Haryana may experience rain on March 24. The Meteorological Department also predicts hail in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on March 21, and in Himachal Pradesh on March 21 and 22.
