Nayab Saini’s Government Secures Confidence Vote, Khattar Resigns from Karnal Seat
Today, during a special session of the assembly, newly appointed Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini underwent a floor test. CM Nayab Singh Saini conducted the floor test just one day after his unexpected appointment as the chief minister by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
On Tuesday, Nayab Singh Saini, the Lok Sabha MP representing Haryana’s Kurukshetra, held a meeting with Governor Bandaru Dattatreya to formally assert his claim to form the government in Haryana. This move came as he replaced senior BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar, who was also in attendance at the swearing-in ceremony.
After being appointed as the new Haryana CM, Saini said, “I want to thank PM Modi, party president JP Nadda, Union HM Amit Shah, and other senior leaders of the party for giving me this responsibility. We will work for the development of the state. We have asked the Speaker to conduct the floor test tomorrow at around 11 am, in the Vidhan Sabha. We have informed the Governor about the support of 48 MLAs.”
Following the dissolution of the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), and the subsequent resignation of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the former chief minister suggested that the JJP leaders’ insistence on seat allocation for the Lok Sabha polls might have been a factor contributing to the alliance’s breakup.
