“Representing someone else’s interests”: Prime Minister Modi criticizes the Opposition’s comments on China.
On Monday, Prime Minister Modi responded in the Lok Sabha to the debate concerning the ‘Motion of Thanks’ on the President’s Address.
In New Delhi on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Opposition for their comments regarding border disputes with China, emphasizing that the nation would not tolerate their language if they acted as “agents”.
This occurs amidst Opposition leaders’ criticism of the central government regarding the purported Chinese encroachment in Ladakh, and holding them responsible for the inability to safeguard India’s borders.
During his response in the Lok Sabha to the debate on the ‘Motion of Thanks’ on the President’s address, Prime Minister Modi expressed unwavering confidence in the resilience of India’s armed forces, regardless of the attempts made by opposition leaders to undermine their morale.
“If certain individuals believe that their careless remarks will dampen the spirits of our armed forces, they must wake up from this illusion. Such rhetoric, propagated by those serving as proxies, will not be tolerated by the nation,” remarked Modi.
“In the past decade, our nation has witnessed enhanced peace and security. We have grown stronger. Terrorism and Naxalism have been contained to a limited area. The world has been compelled to adopt India’s policy of zero-tolerance towards terrorism,” he continued.
“The Indian armed forces have received recognition for their capabilities at the borders and at sea… We should take pride in the strength of our armed forces,” stated the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, PM Modi also criticized Congress MP DK Suresh’s statement about a “separate nation,” stating that “certain elements within the country are actively attempting to sow division.”
“It’s alarming that some individuals are advocating for the division of our nation. Instead of fostering unity, their agenda seems solely focused on fracturing our country. They seem unsatisfied with existing divisions and are seeking to create further discord. How long will this trend persist?” he pondered.
PM Modi on Kashmir
In his speech, the Prime Minister cited Kashmir as an instance of the BJP effectively addressing a longstanding issue in the country.
“In the past, discussions about Kashmir in this chamber often led to heated debates. However, today, the focus in this very chamber is solely on the developmental initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir. While some may express displeasure when I mention Nehru’s name, the reality is that Kashmiri people endured considerable hardships due to decisions made during his tenure,” he remarked.
