Indian Premeir League 2021, DC vs CSK, CSK Predicted XI: Should MS Dhoni Included Lungi Ngidi, Mitchell Santner?
Having already secured a playoff spot, CSK could be tempted to shuffle their playing XI to test their bench’s strength before the next round.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were upset by the Rajasthan Royals in their previous encounter where they lost by seven wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his first 100 IPLs, but quick shots from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube tipped the result in favor of Rajasthans on Saturday.
CSK, which decided to let Dwayne Bravo rest for the match against RR, would be concerned about the form of Sam Curran, who has so far failed to deliver on the tournament stage in the United Arab Emirates.
England’s all-rounder has proven to be expensive on the ball and with CSK’s high-level shooting, he hasn’t had many opportunities to contribute the bat. Having qualified for the next round, the three-time IPL champions would be tempted to test the strength of their bench and could give Imran Tahir some playing time before the playoffs.
Here are the players we think could be included in CSK XI for their game against DC:
Ruturaj Gaikwad: The centurion from the previous game will look to continue his good show with the bat when CSK take on DC on Monday.
Faf du Plessis / Cheteshwar Pujara: The South African international was involved in a collision with Mustafizur Rahman and CSK could choose to rest him for the next game and give Cheteshwar Pujara a game at the top of the order.
Moeen Ali: England’s all-rounder has been excellent for CSK with both bat and ball and will be key during intermissions against DC.
Suresh Raina: The mainstay of CSK’s batting lineup has yet to make a notable contribution with the bat and will be looking to find his touch before the playoffs.
Ambati Rayudu / Robin Uthappa: With the playoff spot already secured, CSK would be tempted to test the strength of their bench to be ready in case of injury and Robin Uthappa could replace Rayudu at XI. MS Dhoni: Dhoni has scored just 66 runs in this year’s IPL, but it is his leadership and his keen work with the gloves behind the stumps that has helped CSK in crucial situations. The former India captain would like to put the previous result behind him and increase CSK’s chances of finishing in the top two.
Mitchell Santner: On a slow surface in Dubai, Santner is likely to replace Sam Curran in the XI. The New Zealander can go bowling and hit big shots in order, if necessary.
Ravindra Jadeja: India’s all-rounder has been in his way of life and would like to have a similar performance against Delhi Capitals. Shardul Thakur: The India closer has provided CSK with crucial breakthroughs in critical situations and will be instrumental on the ball during intermissions for the three-time IPL champions.
KM Asif: KM Asif played well against the Rajasthan Royals in a high-scoring match and he’s likely to have another chance to give Deepak Chahar some more time to recharge before the playoffs.
Lungi Ngidi: Josh Hazlewood turned out to be too expensive during CSK’s previous meeting against RR and Dhoni could replace the Australian with Lungi Ngidi.
