City Gas Distribution Project for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack launched by Dharmendra Pradhan
The petroleum and natural gas ministry launched an Rs 5700 crore piped cooking gas project that is to benefit 5 lakh households in the Cuttack and Bhubaneswar in Odisha.
Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) will invest Rs 1,750 crore (Rs 750 crore for Cuttack and Rs 1000 crore for Bhubaneswar) to provide piped cooking gas to these households under 5 years. It will also set up forty four VNG stations for automobiles, according to union minister for petroleum and natural gas, Dharmendra Pradhan.
Pradhan also stated that, the ministry has already committed to investments of Rs 1.25 lakh crore in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also commended Dharmendra Pradhan for pushing the PM Ujjwala Yojja effectively to take Odisha 26 lakh households with gas connection to 11 lakh in one year.
For this network, the gas will be drawn from the Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra pipeline. The pipeline is being laid out at a cost of Rs 12,940 crore (supported by a forty percent grant from the Centre).
