At Maha Shivratri, Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Inaugurate 112-foot Shiva Statue in Coimbatore
Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India is all set to inaugurate Lord Shiva’s massive 112-foot statue in Coimbatore on Friday evening. The unveiling of the statue will be part of the Maha Shivratri celebrations organised by the Isha Foundation. Isha Foundation was founded by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.
But, protests are rising from quarters regarding the event as it is being said that the statue may lead to ecological damages in the area.
Isha Foundation quoted saying that the bust of the statue will largest of its kind in the world. In a statement, Isha Foundation said that, the face of Shiva symbolises liberation, representing the 112 ways in which one can attain the ultimate through the science of yoga.
In a statement, Jagga Vasudev had said that, “It is essential that the coming generations on this planet are seekers, not believers. As philosophies, ideology, belief systems that don’t stand the test of logic and the scientific verification will naturally collapse in coming decades, you will see the longing for liberation will rise. When that longing rises, Adiyogi and the science of Yoga will become very important.”
Protests regarding irregularities of the project have been taking place for a quite some time and according to allegations by local tribes, the construction work started without any proper permission.
