Guru Randhawa Takes Subtle Jab at Diljit Dosanjh, Urges Him to ‘Remember Where You Were Born’
Despite not naming anyone, many people on social media were too quick to figure out that Guru Randhawa was referring to Dilljit Dosanjh.
The most recent Indian film industry figure to comment on the current issue surrounding Diljit Dosanjh’s new film, Sardaar Ji 3, is Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa. When the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the movie was revealed earlier this week, it caused a national outcry.
Many people on social media think that Guru Randhawa’s enigmatic post on X on Thursday, June 26, about being Indian and how India has produced great artists was a jab at Diljit Dosanjh.
The Patola singer further claimed in his article that Diljit Dosanjh was no longer an Indian national.
“Hayieee, lakh pardesi. Apna bhandi daa nhi desh. Jehre mulk da khayie nhi mangi da us da bura. Please keep this in mind even if you are not now an Indian citizen but were born here. We are all proud of the talented artists this nation has produced. Please take pride in your birthplace. Just some guidance. Don’t stir up trouble and try to control Indians now, lol. Guru Randhawa posted on the microblogging site, “PR is bigger than artists (sic).”
Social media users’ responses to his article were poured into the comments area.
According to an X user, “Diljit is a fake indian.” In Guru Randhawa’s tweet, another person tagged Diljit Dosanjh and wrote, “Sun le (pay heed to this).”
The musician was commended by a user for having the courage to publicly express themselves. “Good job. “It’s time to stop negotiating and start confronting them,” the message said.
Some people also took issue with Guru Randhawa’s post.
‘Lagdi Lahore di aa’: what was it? When Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, or Nagpur might have easily been used in place of Lahore. In reference to the singer’s well-known song Lahore, one user contended that it was the “epicentre of nationalism.”
“Says the one who sang the song ‘LAHORE’,” another person said.
Diljit Dosanjh and Guru Randhawa previously worked together on the song Dil Todeya from the 2019 movie Arjun Patiala. Guru Randhawa, who co-composed the song with Sachin-Jigar, wrote the lyrics, which were sung by Diljit Dosanjh.
Diljit Dosanjh, a producer on the Punjabi film that will be released internationally on Friday, has been the subject of both praise and condemnation from the entertainment business ever since the Sardaar Ji 3 issue emerged.
Film authorities have requested that Diljit Dosanjh and the Sardaar Ji 3 producers be banned. Singer Mika has criticised Diljit for his collaboration with Hania Aamir, and Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi, who supports Diljit, has questioned the hypocrisy of the public.
