The Verge reported that a notice from the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) in Washington said that 305 employees were laid off on June 2 as part of a fresh round of layoffs at Microsoft that involved over 300 layoffs. Following the layoffs that impacted about 3% of their workers last month, a corporate representative said in response to a GeekWire story that they were still making organisational changes to “best position the company for success in a dynamic marketplace.”
Regarding if the implementation of AI was the cause of these cuts, Microsoft has not responded.
The corporation run by Satya Nadella wants to cut back on “unnecessary” levels of management, which primarily affect middle management.
According to recent reports, Microsoft has laid off almost 2,300 people in Washington alone. The state’s Redmond serves as the company’s headquarters.
