
Filmmaker Vikram Sugumaran Passes Away at 47 After Suffering Cardiac Arrest
Sources close to the director revealed he was set to return from Madurai to Chennai by bus when the incident occurred
Best known for his highly regarded directing debut, Madha Yaanai Koottam, filmmaker Vikram Sugumaran passed away in Chennai on Monday after suffering a heart attack. His age was 47.
He was reportedly on his way back from Madurai after narrating a new script to a producer when he experienced severe chest pain. Though he was rushed to a hospital nearby, doctors were unable to resuscitate him.
Sources close to the director revealed he was set to return to Chennai by bus when the incident occurred.
Vikram Sugumaran is survived by his wife and children.

Madha Yaanai Koottam, a gritty rural drama praised for its unvarnished storytelling and social critique, was his next notable work. Raavana Kottam (2023), his most recent film as a filmmaker, starred Shanthnu Bhagyaraj in the major role.
Therum Porum was the new project that Vikram Sugumaran had been working on.
In a recent interview with the media, the director disclosed that he was betrayed by several members of the industry. He declined to identify any specific individuals, though, claiming that he lacked credible proof to back up his assertions.
Additionally, Vikram Sukumaran co-wrote the 2011 Tamil movie Aadukalam, which starred Dhanush and was directed by Vetrimaaran.
