India and Israel Hold Joint Security Drill in Delhi
The security drill happened because there was increased security around the Israeli embassy in New Delhi after the Israel-Hamas conflict started last October.
The Israeli embassy worked together with Indian security forces to organize a security drill in New Delhi. They wanted to see how prepared the security personnel were to handle possible future threats.
The security drill happened last week. The Union Home Ministry, Delhi Police, National Security Guard (NSG), and local emergency services like the fire department and traffic police all participated, as mentioned in a statement by the Israeli embassy on Wednesday.
Please note that my training data only goes up until January 2022, so I’m not able to provide real-time information. However, as of my last update, the conflict between Israel and Hamas last October led to increased security measures for the Israeli mission in New Delhi.
During the event, Israeli ambassador Naor Gilon stressed how important the security drill was.
“This security drill with Indian security forces is a big step forward. These joint exercises help our countries work together better on security and defense, showing our commitment to global peace. We’re dedicated to continuing this collaboration for a safer world,” he said.
During both day and night sessions at the Israeli embassy, participants practiced how to respond to potential terrorist incidents. Elite units from different agencies acted out scenarios, while the Delhi traffic police handled traffic in the area.
“The drill provided an opportunity for Israeli and Indian forces to improve how they work together, communicate, and carry out operations. This helps them work better together to fight against terrorism,” the statement explained.
India and Israel are good friends and work closely together, especially in advanced defense technology and military equipment. Israel provides India with various tools to help fight terrorism, such as surveillance and cyber security systems.
