The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has petitioned the Supreme Court to exclude Bansuri Swaraj’s name from the list of representatives for the ED in Sanjay Singh’s bail order.
Today, the Directorate of Enforcement informed the Supreme Court that the inclusion of Advocate Bansuri Swaraj’s appearance on behalf of the agency in yesterday’s bail order for Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh in the Delhi Liquor Policy case was inadvertent.
ED counsel Zoheb Hossain raised the issue before a Bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna, who presided over a Special Bench along with Justices MM Sundresh and Bela M Trivedi. It’s noteworthy that Sanjay Singh was granted bail yesterday based on ED’s concession in light of the “peculiar facts” of the case.
Hossain stated that an inadvertent error occurred in recording the appearance. Ms. Bansuri Swaraj was neither hired nor did she participate in the matter. He noted that a formal application had been submitted and suggested that the error might be attributed to the central agency automatically listing advocate names. He requested that the appearance be rectified.
In reply, Justice Khanna assured that necessary action would be taken.
Earlier today, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj posted a screenshot of the order on social media platform ‘X’, which included the name of Bansuri Swaraj, a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat. He claimed that the BJP and ED are identical.
