In Mumbai, seven individuals lost their lives in a massive fire that erupted in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar today. Officials reported that among the victims were three women, two men, and two children.
Around 4 am, a fire erupted in a tailoring shop, causing panic in the neighborhood. Firefighters promptly responded and successfully extinguished the flames. However, by that time, seven individuals had tragically lost their lives in the fire.
Manoj Lohiya, the Police Commissioner of Sambhaji Nagar, stated that the fire originated from the Alam Tailors shop, which housed residents on the upper floors of the building. Although the fire did not reach these living spaces, it is believed that the victims may have perished due to smoke inhalation.
“The shop unexpectedly caught fire around 4 am. Police were alerted to the incident at 4:15 am. As a result of the fire, smoke infiltrated the first floor where a family resided above the shop. Seven fatalities have been attributed to suffocation,” stated Police Commissioner Manoj Lohiya during a briefing with reporters.
Authorities are presently probing the origin of the fire, and post-mortem examinations have been mandated for the deceased.
