Police officer and gangster fatally shot in an exchange of fire in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir.
Police stated that Probationary Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma, who sustained head injuries during the encounter, passed away while undergoing treatment on Wednesday.
In Jammu, officials reported that a criminal was killed in a shootout with police near the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir.

Responding to a tip-off, a group of officials pursued gangster Vasudev, a primary suspect in a murder case filed at Ramgarh police station, resulting in a shootout near the Government Medical College hospital around 10:30 pm on Tuesday, as stated by a police spokesperson.
The spokesperson mentioned that Vasudev was fatally wounded in the confrontation, while one of his accomplices sustained injuries. Additionally, Deepak Sharma suffered head injuries, and 40-year-old Special Police Officer Anil Kumar also sustained injuries. Initially, they were admitted to GMC Hospital in Kathua and later transferred to Amandeep Hospital in Pathankot, according to the spokesperson.
Sharma passed away while receiving treatment on Wednesday. His body has been transported to GMC Hospital in Kathua, she further stated.
