Arvind Kejriwal Petitions Court: ED’s Aim to Dismantle AAP Questioned in Delhi Hearing
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will remain in the custody of Enforcement Directorate till April 1.
Mr Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in the money laundering case filed in connection with the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy-2021-22 and was in its custody since then.
Special Judge (PC Act) Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Courts passed the remand extension order of Mr Kejriwal whose seven day ED custody ended on March 28.
The ED had sought seven days custody of the CM while the court granted for four days.
At the time of being produced in the court, Mr Kejriwal termed the alleged excise policy scam as ‘political conspiracy’ and that ‘people of the country will reply in the matter’.
While personally arguing his case, Mr Kejriwal, who was speaking in Hindi, attacked ED and said that the sole mission of the central agency is to somehow implicate him and finish Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
“ED ka mission kewal aur kewal mujhe fasana tha (ED’s only mission was to implicate me),” said Kejriwal who also added that he did not wish would oppose ED’s request for further custody. — Ishita Mishra
