Tejas Networks and Telecom Egypt Join Forces to Accelerate Digital Egypt Vision
On Tuesday, Tejas Networks, supported by the Tata Group and specializing in telecom equipment, announced a partnership with Telecom Egypt, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency, and the National Telecom Institute to transfer its expertise from executing projects such as Bharatnet (Rural Broadband Project) and NKN (National Knowledge Network) to Egypt.
According to a regulatory filing, the agreement is geared towards expediting the Digital Egypt vision, enhancing the skills of Egyptian engineers and technicians, establishing domestic manufacturing and research facilities, and implementing technical support services in Egypt.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Telecom Egypt (TE), the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and the National Telecom Institute (NTI) to this end.
The statement also outlines additional areas of collaboration, such as enhancing the skills of Egyptian engineers and technicians in cutting-edge telecom and networking technologies, creating domestic manufacturing and research facilities for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) products, and implementing technical support services in Egypt for local customers and the wider Africa and Middle East region.
Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, characterized the agreement as comprehensive, aiming to facilitate the localization of top-tier communication products, attract new Indian investments to Egypt, generate employment opportunities, and foster the development of research expertise across various communication sectors.
Anand Athreya, CEO and Managing Director of Tejas Networks, described the collaboration as a significant achievement for both entities. He emphasized their shared commitment to advancing the Digital Egypt vision by drawing upon Tejas’s extensive experience in designing and implementing over 500 complex, carrier-class networks in India and globally.
Tejas Networks Ltd, headquartered in Bangalore, specializes in the design and production of wireline and wireless networking solutions. These products cater to telecommunications service providers, internet service providers, as well as defense and government organizations, spanning across more than 75 countries.
