In the 6th list, Congress selects Prahlad Gunjal to run against Om Birla from Kota.
In New Delhi, following the BJP’s release of its fifth list, the Congress revealed its sixth list consisting of five candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Prahlad Gunjal has been nominated from Kota to contest against the incumbent Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla.
The list did not include any candidates from Karnataka. The party has not yet announced nominees for the Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ballari, and Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituencies.
The Congress has also nominated Ramchandra Choudhary for Ajmer, Sudarshan Rawat for Rajsamand, Damodar Gurjar for Bhilwara, and C Robert Bruce for Tirunelveli. Gunjal officially joined the Congress in Jaipur on Thursday, in the presence of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra.
An associate of former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, Gunjal previously served as the MLA from Kota North twice, although he was unsuccessful in the last assembly elections. Known for his outspoken nature, Gunjal’s presence is anticipated to bolster the Congress’s standing in the Hadoti region.
As a result, Congress has unveiled a cumulative count of 190 candidates for the 7-phase Lok Sabha elections beginning on April 19, while the BJP has declared 402 nominees.
