India’s February WPI Inflation Dips to 0.20%, Marking 4-Month Low
India recorded a WPI inflation rate of 0.20% in February, down from January’s 0.27%, marking a four-month low.
In January, the wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation moderated to 0.2 per cent from the previous month’s 0.27 per cent.
The WPI inflation remained negative from April to October, shifting to positive territory in November at 0.26 per cent.
“The commerce and industry ministry stated on Wednesday that the provisional annual inflation rate, based on the All India Wholesale Price Index (WPI), stands at 0.20 per cent for February 2024, compared to February 2023.”
Data indicates that food inflation experienced a slight increase, rising to 6.95 per cent in February from 6.85 per cent in January.
Vegetable inflation rose to 19.78 per cent, compared to 19.71 per cent in January.
In February, WPI inflation for pulses stood at 18.48 per cent, an increase from 16.06 per cent in January.
