JNU: Jahangir National University Film Poster Sparks Social Media Debate
“Jahangir National University” is set to premiere in April. The movie’s title is inspired by Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Penned and directed by Vinay Sharma, the film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 5th. It boasts an ensemble cast including Siddharth Bodke, Urvashi Rautela, Piyush Mishra, Ravi Kishan, Vijay Raaz, Rashmi Desai, Atul Pandey, and Sonnalli Seygall.
Rautela posted the movie’s poster on her Instagram page, showcasing a saffron-colored map of India accompanied by the question, “Can a single educational institution divide the nation?”
“In the secluded halls of EDUCATION, a conspiracy simmers to DIVIDE the NATION. As the LEFT & RIGHT clash, who will emerge victorious in this Struggle for CONTROL?” she wrote. The film’s title is a nod to Jawaharlal Nehru University, which has been embroiled in controversies in recent years.
The “JNU” poster garnered attention on the social media platform X, as it was shared by various personalities, including trade analysts Taran Adarsh and Komal Nahta. This led to divergent reactions from users.
Numerous individuals criticized the film, labeling it as another instance of propaganda cinema. “This movie will merely propagate falsehoods! It won’t accurately depict the realities of #JNU. Its sole objectives seem to be tarnishing the reputation of one of India’s top universities and diverting attention from pressing issues like unemployment and poverty,” one commenter expressed.
“Another propaganda film set to hit screens just before the elections, focusing on #JNU. No doubt, it will portray the university negatively,” remarked another user.
Arriving on April 5th, #JNUMovie aims to captivate, challenge, and inspire. More than just a film, it embodies a movement.
One user commented, “Now a WhatsApp forward has become a movie. Propaganda knows no bounds.” Meanwhile, some social media users praised the film, predicting it to be a potential hit. “This will unveil the true colors of the Tukde Tukde gang. Catch JNU in theaters near you on 5th April,” shared an X user. Another user wrote, “Mark your calendars for April 5th, as #JNUMovie arrives to captivate, challenge, and inspire. It’s more than just a movie; it’s a movement.”
