Sources: ML Khattar Set to Contest Lok Sabha Polls as BJP Considers Ending Haryana Alliance
Sources indicate that after dissolving the cabinet, the BJP plans to establish the government with backing from certain Independent MLAs.
The BJP and its coalition partner in Haryana, the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), appear to be on the verge of separating due to disagreements regarding seat-sharing negotiations before the Lok Sabha elections.
According to sources, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is expected to meet Governor Bandaru Dattatreya today to tender his resignation.
It’s been stated that following the dissolution of the cabinet, the BJP will establish the government with the backing of Independent MLAs.
“We have already extended our support to Chief Minister Manohar Lal-led government. We also discussed the strategy for the Lok Sabha elections. I got the impression that the process of breaking the alliance with JJP has already started,” Haryana Independent MLA Nayan Rawat told reporters after meeting Mr Khattar.
However, it’s uncertain whether Mr. Khattar will be sworn in again as the Chief Minister. Party sources suggested that the seasoned leader might instead run for the Lok Sabha elections from Karnal.
This development occurred one day after JJP leader Dushyant Chautala met with BJP President J P Nadda to discuss seat-sharing between the two coalition partners in the state.
In a final attempt to salvage the alliance, Dushyant Chautala is scheduled to meet with Home Minister Amit Shah today.
In the previous elections in 2019, the BJP secured victory in all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Following the assembly polls, the JJP formed an alliance with the party.
