“In his address at the ‘Sashakt Nari-Viksit Bharat’ event, Mr. Modi expressed confidence in his government’s ability to empower women, stating that his third term will mark a significant milestone in advancing women’s empowerment.”
“Taking a dig at past administrations, he highlighted that women’s welfare and struggles weren’t a focal point for them, contrasting it with the BJP’s proactive approach through various initiatives aimed at assisting women across all phases of life.”
BJP govt’s various schemes for women
Mr. Modi emphasized that he was the first Prime Minister to address numerous women-related issues, such as inadequate sanitation facilities, access to sanitary pads, the harmful effects of traditional kitchen fuels like wood and coal, and the necessity of bank accounts, during his speeches from the Red Fort on Independence Day. He mentioned facing ridicule and insults from political opponents for bringing up these topics.
He emphasized that his observations of life at home, in his neighborhood, and in villages during his travels influenced his understanding and initiatives for the betterment of women.
Mr. Modi mentioned that more than Rs. 8 trillion has been distributed among women through various government schemes. He also noted that over 10 million women have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’ until now.
The prime minister expressed that he has observed how even a small assistance to women can empower them to support others. He remarked that politicians who prioritize their own families over societal welfare may fail to comprehend this notion.
During the ‘Sashakt Nari-Viksit Bharat’ event, Mr. Modi distributed approximately ₹8,000 crore in bank loans to self-help groups (SHGs). He engaged with women beneficiaries from diverse regions, discussing various facets of their work, and commended their dedication and perseverance.
He also honored ‘Lakhpati Didis,’ individuals who have attained success through the assistance of the ‘Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission’ and are aiding in the progress of other members within self-help groups.
New initiatives
At the event, he distributed drones to 1,000 ‘Namo Drone Didis,’ women selected to operate drones for agricultural and related activities.
He also disbursed about ₹2,000 crore Capitalisation Support Fund to SHGs.
The initiatives of ‘Namo Drone Didi’ and ‘Lakhpati Didi’ are essential components of the Prime Minister’s vision to promote economic empowerment and financial independence among women, particularly in rural regions, as stated by the Prime Minister’s Office in a previous announcement.
