Arvind Kejriwal Rallies AAP for Lok Sabha Polls, Sets the Stage for Campaign Trail
Speaking at the Aam Aadmi Party headquarters on DDU Marg, Kejriwal expressed his dedication to serving the people of Delhi, whom he considers his family, stating that he has exerted all possible efforts in this regard.
He elaborated, “Our rallying cry is ‘With Kejriwal in Parliament, Delhi will thrive and prosper.'”
At the event, Kejriwal criticized the BJP-led government, accusing the Centre, particularly the Delhi Lt Governor, of obstructing every initiative put forth by the AAP administration. He urged the public to “bolster” him by electing all seven opposition candidates to Parliament.
“They harbor animosity towards you because you chose and empowered an ordinary individual to lead Delhi. They dismantled Mohalla Clinics using bulldozers, halted the door-to-door ration delivery scheme, and disrupted healthcare services including tests and medication in hospitals,” he claimed.
Lok Sabha polls 2024: AAP, Congress alliance
The AAP will participate in the general election in alliance with its INDIA bloc partner Congress, with whom it has reached a seat-sharing agreement in Delhi, Gujarat, and Haryana. However, in Punjab, both parties have opted to contest the Lok Sabha polls separately.
In Delhi, the AAP will compete for four out of the seven Lok Sabha seats, while Congress will nominate candidates for the remaining three.
Under the agreement, the AAP will vie for three seats in Delhi: New Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, and East Delhi, while the grand old party will compete for the remaining three seats: Chandni Chowk, North East, and North West Delhi.
As part of the seat-sharing agreement with Congress, the party has been allocated two constituencies in Gujarat – Bharuch and Jamnagar – and one constituency in Haryana – Kurukshetra. Additionally, the AAP has announced its candidates for the Guwahati, Dibrugarh, and Sonitpur Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam.
