Jaishankar: Indian Emigrants Pursue Work Opportunities Abroad with Confidence
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar praised the Indian diaspora for their significant role in enhancing India’s relationships with other nations.
On Tuesday, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar emphasized that Indians seeking work opportunities abroad have confidence that the current government will support them even while they are overseas.
Speaking at an event in Seoul, the minister remarked that Indians departing the country do so with a newfound confidence. They now trust that “regardless of what occurs abroad, there is a government that will provide for them.”
According to ANI, the minister stated, “This is a significant sentiment, especially considering the current global landscape, as an increasing number of Indians are inclined to pursue work opportunities worldwide.”
The minister’s comments hold importance as the government has taken proactive steps to repatriate Indians stranded in conflict-ridden countries, notably during the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Thousands of Indians stranded in different regions of Ukraine were evacuated by the government following Russia’s invasion in 2022.
In his commendation of the Indian diaspora, Jaishankar lauded their role in bolstering India’s ties with other nations. The minister remarked, “There will be students venturing overseas, as well as blue-collar workers, professionals, and individuals whose skills are in demand by global companies. It’s imperative that we instill confidence in them, a feat we have successfully achieved over the past decade.”
“However, individuals residing overseas are aware that their hearts and minds remain deeply connected to India in various ways. I am aware that each of you, in your own unique manner, contributes to the advancement of our nation,” stated the minister, as reported by ANI.
