Narendra Modi Criticizes Mamata, INDIA Bloc: ‘Country is Enraged’ at Sandeshkhali Attack
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a full-scale attack on Mamata Banerjee, addressing issues ranging from Sheikh Shahjahan to irregularities in recruitment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticized the Trinamool Congress and other alliance parties of the INDIA bloc on Friday regarding the Sandeshkhali case. This case involves allegations of several women being sexually harassed by Trinamool strongman Sheikh Shahjahan, who was arrested on Thursday after evading capture for about 50 days. This marks the first instance of Narendra Modi addressing the ongoing Sandeshkhali issue, which has been a point of contention since January 5th.
“The nation is witnessing the actions of the Trinamool Congress towards the women of Sandeshkhali. The entire nation is outraged. The spirit of Raja Ram Mohan Roy must have been deeply troubled by the events in Sandeshkhali…the party shielded the TMC leader, and it was only after pressure from BJP leaders that the police arrested him yesterday,” stated PM Modi.
‘Blew the trumpet of ma mati manush’
In his criticism of the Trinamool, particularly regarding its slogan ‘ma mati manush’ (mother, soil, people), Narendra Modi expressed that the revered Raja Rammohan Roy’s spirit must be anguished witnessing the plight of women in Bengal. “A Trinamool leader crossed all boundaries…when the mothers and sisters of Sandeshkhali raised their voices, seeking help from Mamata Didi, what did they receive in return? Didi and her government made every effort to protect the Trinamool leader,” PM Modi remarked. Gesturing towards the BJP leaders gathered on the stage, Modi added, “These BJP leaders applied pressure on the government, and eventually, yesterday, the Bengal Police yielded to your strength and apprehended the accused.”
“Under the TMC administration, this criminal remained on the run for two months. It begs the question: Who was providing him shelter? Can such actions ever be forgiven? Will justice not be sought for the suffering inflicted upon the mothers and sisters?” Modi questioned.
‘Have some shame’
“Today, the people of West Bengal are questioning Mamata didi whether she values the votes of certain individuals more than the suffering of women. Show some decency,” remarked Narendra Modi.
PM Modi’s dig at Mallikarjun Kharge over Sandeshkhali
“The leaders of the INDIA bloc have adopted the stance of Gandhi’s three monkeys, closing their eyes, ears, and mouths,” Modi remarked. “They convene meetings in Patna, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and elsewhere. However, both the Congress and the Left lack the courage to scrutinize the Trinamool government in Bengal. They have turned a blind eye even towards Sandeshkhali,” PM Modi expressed.
“And have you heard what Congress president said? The translator must translate and explain this to the mothers and sisters here. ‘Arrey chhodo, Bangal mein ye sab kuch chalta rahta hai. Isn’t it an insult to Bengal, its culture and traditon?” Modi said. “This is the truth of INDIA bloc. They shield the corrupt, the dynasts and those who believe in appeasement politics. TMC has set a new model of corruption…have you seen the bundles of notes found in TMC leaders’ houses? Have you ever seen that much of money even in movies?” Modi asked.
Mallikarjun Kharge’s “Chalte rahta hai” remark was made in the context of the political dynamics in West Bengal, where the Congress, CPM, and Trinamool – allies within the INDIA bloc – are competing parties. During a media conclave, Kharge was questioned about the Sandeshkhali case. In response, he elaborated on the intricate political landscape between the Congress and the Trinamool in the state, refraining from commenting on it at a national level.
