Abhay Chautala’s Forewarning: Recalling Statements Made Six Months Prior to the Tragic Shooting of Haryana INLD Chief Nafe Singh Rathee
Abhay Chautala criticized the Haryana government for neglecting to ensure the security of Nafe Singh Rathee, despite the existence of threats to his life.
Abhay Chautala from the Indian National Lok Dal asserted that Nafe Singh Rathee, the party’s Haryana unit president, who was fatally attacked by unidentified perpetrators in Bahadurgarh near Delhi on Sunday, had previously confided in him about the threat to his life. Nafe Singh Rathee and a party colleague, known as Jai Kishan, lost their lives when assailants opened fire on their SUV.
After visiting the hospital in Bahadurgarh where the bodies were placed, Abhay Chautala leveled accusations against the Haryana government, alleging a lapse in providing security to Nafe Singh Rathee despite known threats to his life. He further urged for the resignation of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Home Minister Anil Vij.
Addressing reporters on-site, Abhay Chautala additionally called for a CBI investigation into the incident.
Abhay Chautala, quoted by news agency PTI, stated that despite being a two-time MLA and serving as our state unit chief, Nafe Singh Rathee was deprived of security measures. Chautala highlighted that written representations had been submitted to senior police officials and the state home minister, emphasizing the threats Rathee faced and the necessity for security provisions.
Abhay Chautala added that six months prior, Rathee had personally informed him about receiving a life-threatening warning from certain police personnel. Subsequently, Chautala stated that he directly contacted SP Jhajjar via phone to highlight this concern. He emphasized that had adequate security been provided, the unfortunate situation could have been prevented.
