Backed by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd, the BharatGPT group is gearing up to introduce its inaugural ChatGPT-style service next month. The consortium, comprising Reliance and eight affiliated universities, provided a preview of the model. This preview demonstrated various interactions: a motorcycle mechanic in India conversed with an AI bot in Tamil, a banker communicated with the tool in Hindi, and a developer utilized it to write computer code.

Additionally, startups like Sarvam and Krutrim, funded by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Vinod Khosla’s fund respectively, are also constructing open-sourced AI models tailored for India.
