Mithun Chakraborty was hospitalized in Kolkata on Saturday after being diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident affecting his brain.
After experiencing severe chest pain, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata on Saturday. According to the latest report from news agency PTI, he has been discharged on Monday afternoon. Mithun emphasized that he is “completely well” and intends to continue filming for his upcoming projects.

Hours after it was mentioned that the BJP leader was in a ‘fairly stable’ condition, it has been announced that the actor has been released. The 73-year-old was hospitalized at a private facility on February 10 following complaints of intense chest discomfort. The actor also stated, “There’s really no issue, I’m perfectly alright. I need to monitor my dietary habits. We’ll see; I might resume work soon, possibly tomorrow.”
Mithun disclosed that he had a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, during which he “received a stern reminder for neglecting his health.”
Previously, the hospital had issued an official statement stating that Mithun had been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (stroke) affecting his brain. The health condition of the veteran actor was assessed by numerous senior doctors and therapists. Additionally, he underwent a range of clinical examinations, including an MRI, as stated by a senior official from the medical facility.

The official statement stated that Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73), a National Award-winning actor, was admitted to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, at approximately 9:40 am, presenting weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Essential laboratory and radiology investigations were conducted, including a brain MRI. He has been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) affecting the brain. Currently, he remains fully conscious, well-oriented, and has been placed on a soft diet. Shri Chakraborty is undergoing further assessment by a team of doctors, which includes a neurologist, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist.
The latest update from the medical facility states, “His recovery is progressing positively, as he remains fully conscious, alert, responsive, and has been following a soft diet. Prior to discharge, he will undergo specific medical examinations.”
Recently, Mithun was honored as one of the recipients of the Padma Bhushan Award for 2024. On March 7, 2021, he officially joined the BJP party in the company of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata.
