Rahul Gandhi mocks BJP’s fixation, following Himanta’s response to the ‘dog biscuit’ controversy
The BJP alleged that Rahul Gandhi offered identical biscuits to Congress workers after a dog rejected them.
On Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi dismissed the backlash over accusations of his purported mistreatment of party workers, sparked by a viral video depicting his interaction with a puppy and its owner during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jharkhand.
In the widely circulated video on social media, Rahul Gandhi was observed trying to offer biscuits to a puppy. Nevertheless, the puppy seemed reluctant and declined the treat, leading Gandhi to return the biscuits to one of the supporters in attendance.
Amit Malviya, the BJP IT cell chief, also shared the video on X, alleging that the Congress leader offered the same biscuits to party workers after they were declined by the puppy.
“If a party whose president and crown prince treats its party workers like dogs, then it is natural for such a party to disappear,” Malviya remarked.
When questioned about the controversy during a press conference, Rahul Gandhi explained, “I called the dog and the owner. The dog was nervous, shivering, and when I attempted to feed it, the dog became frightened. So I gave biscuits to the dog’s owner, and the dog consumed them from his hand.”
