Kejriwal announces that AAP will contest the Haryana assembly elections independently
Kejriwal’s declaration follows shortly after the AAP firmly stated that it would not form any coalition with the Congress in Punjab for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
On Sunday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that his party will independently contest all 90 assembly seats in Haryana, while participating as part of the INDIA bloc in the Lok Sabha elections.
“At our party’s ‘Badlaav Jansabha’ in Haryana’s Jind, he remarked, “Today, the public’s trust is solely in one party, AAP. With Punjab on one side and our government in Delhi on the other, Haryana is now yearning for significant change. The residents of Delhi and Punjab have already brought about this transformative shift, and they are content with the outcomes.”
Kejriwal’s declaration follows shortly after the AAP, a member of the INDIA bloc, clarified that it would not ally with the Congress in Punjab for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. “AAP will contest on all 90 seats, and we are confident of forming the next government in Haryana, aiming to elevate it to the top-ranking state in the country,” he stated. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also attended the event. Kejriwal emphasized that Haryana is in need of substantial change as its people are disillusioned with the governing parties.
The AAP national convener alleged that other parties have only enriched themselves while in power. He emphasized that only AAP can deliver uninterrupted power supply and other essential services to the people, citing its track record in Delhi and Punjab.
“Can the Congress, BJP, and JJP achieve this? They cannot. Only AAP can,” remarked Kejriwal.
Kejriwal criticized the Union government, alleging that BJP leaders seek to incarcerate him due to his administration’s advancements in education and healthcare in Delhi.
“Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain were imprisoned because they revolutionized education and healthcare in Delhi. BJP aims to imprison me because of my integrity. If I had bribed the BJP, they would have labeled me as honest. I hail from Haryana, where we don’t yield to anyone,” he added.

The Delhi CM reiterated that he is prepared to retire from politics if the BJP can fulfill his five pledges: ensuring equal education for all children, providing healthcare facilities to all segments of society, offering free electricity to impoverished families, curbing inflation, and creating job opportunities for every educated youth.
“I haven’t joined politics to become a chief minister or attain any other position. If the BJP succeeds in addressing these five issues, I will step away from politics. However, if they fail, I will fulfill these commitments. Residents of Punjab and Delhi currently benefit from free electricity due to AAP’s governance in these states, whereas people in Haryana struggle with expensive electricity bills,” he remarked.
Kejriwal emphasized his education and understanding of how the BJP-JJP government is exploiting the residents of Haryana.
“As an engineer, I comprehend why you’re burdened with expensive electricity and fuel. The companies managing electricity and fuel are associated with the Prime Minister’s allies, exploiting the public. While inflation can be mitigated, the Union government lacks a strategy to address it,” he stated.
Slams Khattar for sending youth to Israel for jobs
In a direct criticism aimed at Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, Kejriwal remarked that Khattar has failed to provide employment opportunities to the youth and is now dispatching them to conflict-ridden Israel.
“The ongoing conflict in Israel deeply troubles me, especially witnessing the Haryana government organizing recruitment drives to send young people there. If CM Khattar cannot ensure employment for the youth, he has no justification to hold the position of Chief Minister. Our administration in Punjab has successfully employed 42,000 youths in the past 18 months,” stated Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also criticized the Centre and the BJP-JJP administration in Haryana. “We have established 700 ‘mohalla clinics’ in Punjab, providing medical care to 90 lakh individuals to date. The residents of Haryana will remove the BJP-JJP government and elect an AAP government in the upcoming elections,” Mann asserted.
