Iran executes four individuals suspected of ties to Israeli intelligence.
The individuals were alleged to have unlawfully crossed into Iranian territory from Iraq’s Kurdistan region with the intention of conducting a bombing operation.
According to reports from Iranian state media, on Monday, Iran executed four individuals believed to be associated with an Israeli intelligence operation, following the rejection of their appeal by the Supreme Court.
The accused individuals were alleged to have unlawfully entered Iranian territory from the Kurdistan region of Iraq with the intent to conduct a bombing operation at a factory in Isfahan, which manufactures equipment for Iran’s Ministry of Defence.
The planned operation, allegedly on behalf of Israel’s Mossad, was intended to occur in the summer of 2022 but was thwarted by Iranian intelligence, as reported.
Iran and Israel, longstanding adversaries, are currently embroiled in a dispute over Iran’s nuclear program. Israel accuses Iran of supporting militant attacks against it, while Iran alleges that Israel has conducted multiple assassinations of Iranian officials and scientists. Israel neither confirms nor denies these actions.
