Centre Approves Productivity-Related Bonus For Rail Employees Ahead Of Diwali.

The decision does not include the personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) or the Special Railway Protection Force (RPSF). Bonuses are usually announced before the Diwali festival.
The Ministry of Railways, in a notification, said: “Around 11.56 lakhs of unpublished employees are likely to benefit from the decision.” He added that the bonus payment is made every year before the Dusshera / Puja holidays. ”
The Ministry also stated that the financial implication of the bonus payment has been estimated at ₹ 1,984.73 crore.
The prescribed wage calculation limit for PLB payment is ₹ 7,000 per month with the maximum amount payable to a worker being ₹ 17,951 for 78 days, ”he also mentioned.
“The amount of the PLB of 78 days of salary was paid for the financial years 2010-11 to 2019-20. For the year 2020-21 the amount of the PLB that is expected to motivate employees to work to improve the performance of the Railways, “said the ministry notification.
The PLB Plan for Railways came into force from the year 1979-80 and was developed in consultation with the two recognized Federations, namely the Federation of Indian Railways and the National Federation of Indian Railways and with the approval of the Cabinets of the Union.
The plan foresees a review every three years.
