Mahanagar Gas Increases The Prices Of CNG, PNG Vy ₹ 2 Each. Check Rates.
Even with the new prices, CNG is 65% cheaper than Petrol.
Following the sharp 62% increase in domestically produced gas prices announced by the Center last week, Mahanagar Gas has increased the retail price of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) by ₹ 2 each effective immediately.
Given the massive increase in cost on the supply side, the company is forced to increase the base price of CNG by ₹ 2 / kg and domestic PNG by ₹ 2 / SCM in and around Mumbai, MGL said in a statement on Monday.
Noting that the price of regasified liquefied natural gas is also at an all-time high now, MGL said these combinations have resulted in a significant increase in the cost of the gas it purchases.
This has forced the company to pass the price revision progressively, as the rate hike from the supply side is too large to pass in one go, he added.
Accordingly, the revised delivery price including all domestic GNC and PNG taxes in and around Mumbai will be ₹ 54.57 / kg and ₹ 32.67 / SCM for Slab 1 customers and ₹ 38.27 / SCM for Slab 2 clients, respectively.
Even with the new prices, CNG is 65% cheaper than gasoline and 44% cheaper than diesel. National PNG is 34% cheaper than LPG.
On October 1, the Center increased the price of natural gas produced in the country from the fields to USD 2.90 per million British thermal units and the price of gas produced in difficult fields such as the deep sea to USD 6.13 per mmBtu.
