IPL 2021: I Had A Chat With Virat Kohli During My Lean Patch, Reveals Ishan Kishan.
IPL 2021, RR vs MI: Ishan Kishan spoke about how he regained his form and also named senior cricketers for supporting him.
Ishan Kishan scored an undefeated 50 runs and 25 balls during the pursuit of the Mumbai Indians (MI) against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 51 of the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in Sharjah, the Tuesday.
MI went on to win by eight wickets and Kishan finally found his footing in the United Arab Emirates. The goalie-hitter has been in a bad mood since the 2021 IPL resumed in September.
He started the stretch of the tournaments in the UAE on a poor note, scoring just 11, 14 and nine in IM’s first three matches.
Later he was eliminated by his sides in the next two games. The India international celebrated his return to the XI player with a fantastic half century and will look to justify his selection for the T20 World Cup in upcoming games.
Speaking during the post-match presentation, Kishan revealed that he had a brief chat with Virat Kohli after his poor displays and the Team India skipper conveyed his support.
“I feel like the ups and downs are an important part of any athlete. He was not in good shape either. Most of the hitters weren’t getting runs like the previous seasons. We had a great support staff. Our captain … I actually had a chat with Virat bhai, Hardik bhai … they were all there to support me, “he said.
“I had a chat with KP (Pollard) who said you just need to keep things simple, hit like you used to, just watch the videos of what you did last season. I saw some videos of my hitting and that gave me a little confidence, “he added.
Also expressing joy at his return to the team, Kishan said that it felt good to be back.
“It’s good to be back starting and getting runs for the team and helping them win by a big margin. Feeling really good, it was very necessary for our team to get momentum.
It was good to field first, to have a good idea of the surface. Our plan was to play as straight as possible. Just playing in the V was the plan and the hitters executed really well, ”he said.
After the victory, MI has caught up with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and both teams are tied on points (12), with one more game to play. The side led by Eoin Morgan is ahead of Rohit Sharmas’ side in fourth place due to a better net execution rate.
“There is talk that we want KKR to lose the next game and win the next one, but that’s way ahead now. We just have to prepare for our next game. I need to play with the same energy (as) today. I hope to do this again in the next game, “stated Kishan.
