The IAF Skydiving Teams Akash Ganga and Aerobatic Exhibition participated.
The main objective of the program, under the theme Give Wings to Your Dream, was to raise awareness among the youth of the Kashmir Valley and motivate them to join the Indian Air Force and promote tourism in the region, they said.
When team members opened their parachutes and displayed various formations, the national flag of India, the IAF flag and the Akash Ganga flag waved in the sky.
The team, which has several national and international records to its name, also formed a three-man tricolor formation in the air.
After the skydiving team, it was the turn of three Sukhoi Su-30 MKI jets to claim the sky. People were mesmerized to see the jets smoking and roaring in the sky in Trishul formations and spinning, rolling and spinning over Dal Lake.
The plane displayed complex but sophisticated heroics, such as flying in reverse and turning right and left even when the bowl was small with hills on either side. Showing their grace, poise and power, the jets whirled rapidly at low speed over the lake.
With a looping turn and then a vertical maneuver from Charlie, the planes danced in the sky firing flares before disappearing over the mountains.
Later, it was time to paint the sky red and white as a aerobatic display team of nine planes rushed through it performing synchronous acrobatic maneuvers for 15 minutes straight.
His arrow formation, diamond formation, Gaganyan formation, fulcrum formation, and barrel spin wowed the audience who kept their eyes wide open to the sky.
The team has held more than 500 exhibitions in 75 cities across the country.
In the second part of their performance, the team brought the emotion closer to the ground, just 30 meters above it, and performed maneuvers that gave the audience goose bumps.
Towards the end, they formed a heart-shaped formation with a smoke trail that received great applause from the people.
Then it was the turn of the powerful twin-engine Boeing Chinook CH-47 heavy lift helicopters. They were the protagonists of the event while they flew over the Char-Chinar, the four famous Chinars in the middle of Dal Lake.
The mighty military helicopters approached the ground near the audience and saluted the dais as the lake water was fueled by the brute force of the two rotors.
The audience was captivated by watching the water dance under the helicopters as the curtains of the more than one hour show were drawn.
Complex arrangements, including those related to safety, were put in place to keep the air show running smoothly.
An IAF Symphony Orchestra exhibit and an inspiring photo exhibit on IAF history were also part of the show.
