India and the US have signed an Air Launched Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (ALUAV) development cooperation agreement, in what is seen as a new step to further expand their bilateral defense and military cooperation.
The pact falls within the scope of the Research, Development, Testing and Evaluation (RDT & E) agreement between the two parties, which was first signed in 2006 and renewed in January 2015.
“The PA Outlines Authority describes the collaboration between the Air Force Research Laboratory, the Indian Air Force and the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) towards the design, development, demonstration, testing and evaluation of systems to jointly develop an ALUAV prototype “said the ministry.
He said DTTI’s primary goal is to provide a sustained leadership approach to promote collaborative technology sharing and create opportunities for co-production and joint development of future technologies for the Indian and US military forces.
