Tokyo Paralympic Games: Javelin gold medalist Sumit Antiel received a special call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said he made the country proud.
Sumit Antil’s outstanding performance in the men’s javelin final (F64) allowed him to break the world record three times during the process of winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, and as Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted him with another Very special moment. “The challenges that you defeated throughout everyday life, it will spur young people in the country,” he says.
As the call closes, Sunil Antil can be seen radiating with bliss.

On Monday, India won five decorations at the Tokyo Paralympics, taking their count at the continuous release to seven – the country’s biggest take at the Paralympic Games.
After Bhavina Patel won the silver decoration in table tennis ladies’ singles (Class 4) and Nishad Kumar in men’s high leap (T47) on Sunday, India partook in a stunningly better trip on Monday.
Devendra Jhajharia won the silver medal, while Sundar Singh Gurjar won the bronze medal in the men’s javelin (F46), and then the discus athlete Yogesh Kathuniya won another silver medal for the country.
Avani Lekhara then won India’s first gold medal at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympic Games before Sumit Antil’s record-breaking performance.
