The Last Retro Photo Before Independence Day, provided By The Minister Of Railways.
India will celebrate its 75th Independence Day on August 15, 2021.
Before India’s 75th Independence Day, Federal Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the latest photos of the past, dating back to the year India gained independence from British rule. Vaishnaw posted an image of a stamp issued in 1947 on Twitter to commemorate the country’s first Independence Day. The stamp is dated “August 15, 1947”, and the national flag with the words “Jai Hind” in Hindi is printed on the upper right corner. He shared the publication with the hashtag #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav”.
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a movement of the central government to celebrate India’s journey of progress so far, as well as the history of its people, culture and achievements. Mahotsav started on March 12 this year and will reach a climax on August 15 next year after 75 weeks.
On August 15, 1947, three themed stamps were issued. Except for the stamps shared by Mr. Vaishnaw, the other stamps were printed with images of Ashoka Lion Capital and a flying plane. The cost of the Ashoka Lion Capital stamp is 1.50 annas; and this flying plane sells for 12 annas. The one wearing the tricolor is priced at 3.50 annas.
