The Asian Badminton Championships Have Been Cancelled Due To COVID-19.
In the latest revision of the sports schedule, the three Asian badminton events, the Korea Open, the Macau Open and the Korea Masters, have been cancelled due to the coronavirus-related interruption.
In the latest review of the sports calendar, the authorities stated that three Asian badminton matches on Wednesday were cancelled due to a coronavirus-related disruption. The governing body of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) stated that these include the Korea Open in late August and September and the Macau Open in November. The Korean Masters has now also been eliminated because it was postponed before the June date. The BWF said in a statement: “The current Covid-19 restrictions and complications leave local organizers no choice but to cancel the game.”
The pandemic has thrown the 2020 badminton schedule into chaos, but international competitions have resumed.
However, new outbreaks caused by the highly contagious delta variant in Asia and the slow introduction of vaccines continue to cause problems in the region.
