However, the Chief Minister of Assam added that cases against other police officers will continue to exist.

“In order to show this gesture of goodwill, I have ordered the Assam police to withdraw the FIR of the respected deputy K Vanlalvena of Mizoram. However, the cases against other accused policemen will continue (sic)” Added.

The development took place after the Chief Minister of Mizoram State Zoramtanga issued a statement on Sunday that the border dispute with Assam will be settled amicably through dialogue. The Chief Minister of Mizoram had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Interior Amit Shah and his counterpart Chief Minister Shimanta Biswa Salma. He called on the people of Mizoram to avoid the escalation of the situation.

The dropping of FIR against Mr Sarma was important for the move.
