CVoter Predicts in Exits Polls, End of Congress Rule in Manipur
The fifteen year rule of the Congress party in Manipur may end after exit polls predict that BJP will likely emerge the winner with the maximum number of seats in the Legislative Assembly election.
BJP is expected to win 25-31 of the 60 seats up for grabs with Congress taking 2nd place with 17-23 seats according to CVoter exit polls.
If the projections of the exit polls come out to be true then, this would be a big victory for BJP which received a major thrashing failing to open its account in the 2012 elections.
The remaining seats are expected to be claimed by regional parties like Irom Sharmila’s People’s Resurgence and Justice Alliance.
The predictions by CVoter are based on a sample of 1330 people. According to the projection, BJP is expected to win 34.8% of the vote share whereas Congress is expected to get 32.7%, a steep drop from its 45.6% share in the previous election.
