Government Considering Putting on Block More Wind Power Projects by Next Fiscal
The drop in tariff rates to a record low of Rs 3.46 per unit in the 1st auction of wind power has led the government to consider putting on block more such projects by the next fiscal.
Piyush Goyal, Power, Coal, Mines and New & Renewable Energy Minister, stated that, because of the transparency of the Modi government, the wind power tariff has gone down. He added that, there will be more such projects on the block.
Commenting on whether he is expecting wind power tariff to fall further, he said that this the beauty of the tariff based competitive bidding. The tariff cannot be predicted and it is the bidders who decide what price should be quoted and he cannot interfere in that, he added.
Rajeev Kapoor, New & Renewable Energy Secretary stated that, they are looking forward to more wind power project auction in the next fiscal. They will formalise it and nothing has been decided on the quantum as everything depends upon the states demand as the projects are backed by them.
A record low of Rs 3.46 per unit wind power tariff was touched in the first even auction conducted last week by SECI (Solar Energy Corp).
